Online & Video Streaming
There are two methods of Internet-delivered instruction:
Video Streaming
Video streaming is a means of delivering a live course to students by computer. Using a computer, students may participate from any location; however, the course is live and does meet at specific class times. Students can view the instructor; however, the instructor cannot view the students. Interaction takes place in real-time by use of a Virtual Instructional Assistant (VIA). To see if video streaming might work for you, please visit Video Streaming for more information.

Online Classes
Online courses are especially convenient and flexible for students. Courses and programs are available at the student's discretion, accessible at any time of day or night from any location with Internet access. There are no regularly scheduled class times, though course material and assignments may have specific completion deadlines. Course material is accessed from a course web site or through a course management system such as Blackboard.
To receive online instruction, your computer must meet certain technical requirements and have reliable Internet access. Additionally, an Old Dominion University email account is required, and, depending on the course, additional software may be needed.
