Developing Cutting-Edge Applications for Distance Education

Welcome to the Academic Technology Services webspace! I'm Andy Casiello, Associate Vice-President of ATS, and I'm proud to introduce you to our stellar team and our cutting-edge facilities, which are an integral part of ODU's Distance Learning organization, as well as of projects for off-campus organizations with whom we partner (hyperlink here - to list of off-campus projects?). We are a team whose passion is the application of technology to the processes of thinking and learning. Please wander through our webspace and get to know our work and our people.

What's newest. One of the most exciting new distance education technologies we are offering utilizes two-way videoconferencing technologies to the home. This allows remote students to fully participate in live classes as well as asynchronous components of classes, in a fully two-way video environment, right from their homes.

ATS and ODU are hard at work on new pedagogical applications of technology that will enable ODU's Distance Education students to participate in advanced environments well beyond yesterday's static approaches. Please visit Distance Learning for more information on available courses and programs.

To view a slide presentation about our latest technological advance, ODU's Next-Generation Distance Education Environment known as H.264, which we pioneered in the Summer of 2007, please visit the "Our Vision" page.

Thanks for visiting ATS! We look forward to hearing from you soon, if we can help you in any way.
